I have a belief that we by nature tend to think of our parents as being legalists. The Gospel is so foreign to us that when it breaks into our world we look back at our young life and believe that everyone else was a legalist. I don't think that is necessarily true, but we tend to see life that way. I liked what Pastor Matt had to say about the need of being converted again and again. That we are saved from our virtue (God calls them filthy rags) by the unmerited favor of God is a truth that will take a life time( eternity) to mine the depths of. It is also something that I have found some folks (me) who have been in church for along time can easily loose sight of.... 'losing our first love' the apostle John calls it in the book called Revelation. Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy.
